Whistleblowing Policy

The SEN Agency, Love Teachers Ltd is committed to honest, safe and lawful practice. This policy explains how staff, candidates and contractors can raise a serious concern, and how we will respond.

Who can use this policy

Our employees, workers, agency staff, candidates placed by us, contractors and volunteers.

What to report

Raise a concern if you believe, in good faith, that something is or may be happening that is:

- a risk to the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult;

- a criminal offence, fraud or corruption;

- a breach of a legal duty or of our policies;

- a danger to health and safety;

- damage to the environment;

- modern slavery, human trafficking or exploitation; or

- deliberate concealment of any of the above.

Safeguarding concerns about a child must also be reported straight away under the school's or our safeguarding procedures. Do not wait.

How to raise a concern

Tell a Director of Love Teachers Ltd in person, by phone on +44 (0)20 8798 3099 or by email at office@thesenagency.co.uk. If your concern is about a Director, write to Ian at ian@loveteachers.co.uk. You can raise a concern in confidence.

What we will do

1. Acknowledge your concern within 5 working days.

2. Decide how to look into it and who should do so, and tell you what to expect.

3. Investigate fairly and promptly, and keep you informed as far as the law allows.

4. Take action where the concern is upheld, and tell you the outcome where we can.

Protection from harm

No one will be treated badly for raising a genuine concern in good faith. Victimising or threatening anyone who has raised a concern is a disciplinary matter. The law (the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998) protects workers who make a protected disclosure.

False or malicious reports

Deliberately false or malicious allegations may lead to action under our procedures.

Outside bodies

You can also contact a prescribed person or body, such as the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), the Disclosure and Barring Service, the police, the Health and Safety Executive or the charity Protect (the whistleblowing charity).

Records and review

We keep confidential records of concerns and outcomes and review this policy every year.
